New painting! Part of my new collection currently on show at Leighton Buzzard Library 😀

This tree is strong from a long life. It is shaped by, and affects, the environment in which it is rooted, flexing with the wind and adding to the soil with its leaves. I came across this tree while on a trip to Paris last year. Located at Versailles, it has witnessed much during its history and signifies wisdom to me: learn from the past and adapt to the present.

The cropped composition and semi-abstract background focus attention on the trunk and roots, emphasising its age and resilience. Meanwhile varied brushmarks and strong colours create movement.

‘Experience’, oil on canvas, 50x100cm, 2025.
