New painting! Part of my new ‘Rooted’ collection recently on show at Leighton Buzzard Library 😀

This painting crops the tree tightly and examines the theme of rootedness by exploring the forest floor in autumn. A community of mushrooms have made their home amidst the fallen leaves and tree roots, just as I have made my home not far from this tree in Knolls Wood.

An exaggerated colour palette suggests autumn sunshine and the perspective is indicated by ever looser brushwork towards the background.

‘Interdependence’, oil on canvas, 50x100cm, 2025.
