Flora Yukhnovich at the Ashmolean

A pilgrimage to see the Flora Yukhnovich paintings in Oxford on Saturday… things of astonishing beauty conjured from horror movies, venus flytraps and baked beans among other things, how does she do it? I really enjoyed the Daniel Crews-Chubb paintings too, he injects such emotion into his rendering of archaeological artefacts. And it was lovely to see some old favourites again - Van Dyck’s portrait sketches, Pissarro’s peonies, Marie Laurencin’s mum and Maggi Hambling’s Francis Bacon. Well worth the trip on the bus!
